Resume WritingIn general when people are looking for a job online they will go to one of the job websites and apply for the jobs that are listed there. While this can certainly get you a job you are limiting your options. Most jobs are never actually listed on a job site. Rather most companies will have a page on their website where they will allow you to send your resume for consideration for future openings. This is in fact where most jobs are found. If you are replying to a job ad or if you are just sending in your resume for future consideration make sure that you send it in the format that they request. If they don't request a specific format then you are going to want to include your resume in the body of your email. Nobody wants to open attachments, especially when they don't know who they are coming from. Make it easy for potential employers; include your resume in the body of the email unless they ask you to send it in some other format.

When you are applying for any job it is important to make sure that you include a cover letter, this is something that a lot of people don't do when they apply for a job online. Usually what they do is send an email that simply says what job they are applying for and that their resume is included below.
